Dr. Andrea Moldes

B.PHE, MD, CCFP (SEM), Dip. Sport Med Co-director | Physician

Dr. Moldes completed her fellowship in Sports Medicine and residency in Family Medicine at McMaster University. She is an active member of the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM) and was Past Section Chair of the Ontario Medical Association Section on Sport and Exercise Medicine.

Prior to moving to Barrie, Dr. Moldes worked with varsity and recreational athletes at the David Braley Sport Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre at McMaster University and the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic in London Ontario. She enjoys bringing her experience working with sports teams and competitive athletes to treating active individuals of all ages, abilities and aspirations.

In addition, Dr. Moldes spent seven years delivering primary care at the Barrie Family Health Team Prenatal and Well Baby Clinic. She has a keen interest in promoting exercise in pregnancy and physical activity in children and families.

Dr. Richard Goudie

BSc MD CCFP (SEM) Dip Sport Med AAPM CAPM Co-director | Physician

Over the years, Dr. Goudie has treated a wide range of patients from recreational to elite athletes. He was part of Team Canada’s medical staff at several major games, including the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics, and was Chief Medical Officer at two Paralympic Games.

As a physician, Dr. Goudie focuses on evaluating the functional connection between different moving parts within the body, as symptoms can often be linked to certain parts not engaging adequately with others. Along with his diagnosis of what’s causing the symptoms, he helps guide his patients through a plan to balance dynamic movement.

What motivates him is getting his patients back to an active lifestyle, and he believes that planning, pacing and creating a strong foundation are key to helping achieve this.

Dr. Goudie holds a degree in Kinesiology, a medical degree from the University of Ottawa and a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine. He was previously President of the Canadian Academy of Sports and Exercise Medicine (CASEM), and is currently the Chair of their Games Application Committee.

When he’s not working, he enjoys staying active and is an avid cyclist.

Dr. Marnie Lavigne

B.Sc., MD, CCFP(SEM), Dip. Sport Med Co-director | Physician

Through lifelong participation in a variety of sports, including time as a varsity cross country runner at Laurentian University, Dr. Lavigne has been able to channel her passion for sport and physical activity into a successful career in Sport and Exercise Medicine. After studying Kinesiology at Laurentian University, she obtained her medical degree from McMaster University and completed her Sport and Exercise Medicine Fellowship in 2013.

Upon completion of her medical training Dr. Lavigne worked at the David Braley Sport Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre at McMaster University where she treated varsity and community athletes. She was Chief Medical Officer for two ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships and was a physician volunteer at the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games.

Dr. Lavigne is currently the team physician for the Georgian College Grizzlies and plays an active role teaching medical learners. She continues to volunteer for various sporting events and competitions.

Dr. Lavigne enjoys treating active patients of all ages and abilities. She focuses on educating patients about their diagnosis and treatment plan so they feel empowered with knowledge as they work towards their goals.

Derek Macpherson

BSc (Bio) BScPT Co-director | Physiotherapist

Derek is a registered physiotherapist with an established 20-year career and solid reputation for treating sports-related injuries. His strengths lie in the assessment and treatment of orthopaedic injuries and conditions.

After graduating from St. Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, Derek went on to Dalhousie University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy. In the years following his graduation, he added to his expertise by earning his Diploma of Intermediate Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Derek is committed to expanding his knowledge and skills through professional development courses, and applying his skills and expertise when treating patients.

His treatment approach is very patient focussed and he believes in emphasizing the importance of exercise during recovery, whether your goal is to get back to playing sports competitively or simply to start walking again.

His diverse experience includes owning his own successful practice for eight years and volunteering with such organizations as the Mariposa School of Figure Skating and the Barrie AAA Minor Midget Colts Hockey Club.

In his spare time, Derek keeps busy with his wife and two young daughters, he enjoys working out and is an avid golfer.

Katie Woolsey

PT BSc (HK), MScPT Physiotherapist

Katie is a registered physiotherapist with an established 13-year career within the physiotherapy profession. After graduating University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics, Katie continued on to Queen’s University where she earned a Master’s in Science degree in Physiotherapy.

Katie has had very diverse experience working as a Physiotherapist, ranging from sports related injuries, acute care rehabilitation as well as home care. This wide range of patient experiences has led to an extensive understanding of human movement, rehabilitation and recovery. She is passionate about patients understanding their injury or condition to assist in their recovery and return to activity. Her treatment approach is patient focused combining education, manual therapy and treatment as well as individual exercise prescription to achieve an active recovery.

Katie is committed to lifelong learning to expand her knowledge and skills through professional development courses, and applying these skills and expertise when treating patients.

Growing up as a competitive dancer, Katie understands and is passionate about exercise and human movement. In her spare time, Katie and her husband stay active and busy with their two daughters who play hockey. As a family they enjoy skiing, snowboarding, boating and living a fun and active lifestyle!

Dr. Marco Vennettilli

MD FRCSC Consultant | Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Marco Vennettilli is a consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at STRIVE who believes that we are all high performance athletes…and that we all get to choose our arena.

His multidisciplinary approach is a product of his varied clinical and academic experience. After receiving his medical degree from McMaster University, he continued his surgical training in Hamilton, and then completed a fellowship in upper extremity surgery at the Hand and Upper Limb Centre in London Ontario. This was followed by further postgraduate training in computer navigated total joint arthroplasty.

Dr. Vennettilli believes that the only way to truly understand complex systems is to view them from many different perspectives. Dr. Vennettilli’s clinical interests are in enhanced recovery pathways after surgery, and getting patients back to their lives as soon as possible.

Dr. Mark Rocca

DC Chiropractor

Dr. Rocca is a chiropractor, clinical educator, and high-performance consultant with a strong emphasis on patient-centred care and functional restoration.

He has over 25 years of training in health, fitness, and performance, including a decade of experience as a post-secondary professor in exercise and health science. His passion and dedication have led him abroad to learn from world leaders in the fields of manual therapy, rehabilitation and exercise science.

Using a variety of techniques, he has a unique ability to efficiently uncover and address the underlying causes of pain and dysfunction. Among the many techniques Dr. Rocca uses, are Active Release Technique, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization and Functional Movement Systems.

Dr. Rocca knows all too well the physical demands of sport and exercise on the body. He’s worked to overcome his own history of extensive injuries to continue competing as a weekend warrior in off-road, multi-sport and adventure races. His training and experiences have earned him the trust of Olympians, World Champions, and Professional Athletes.

Jamela Glasgow

RMT Registered Massage Therapist

Jamela is a knowledgeable Massage Therapist that has experience in both clinical and hospital settings. Trained in Manual Lymphatic Drainage Techniques; which assists the body in detoxing, decreasing swelling and boosts the immune system, she is also skilled in passive stretching; to help decrease or manage pain and increase range of motion.

With a firm belief in continued education, Jamela has completed courses in personal training, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, and aquatic therapy. She is presently pursuing studies in Osteopathy.

Her experience, inquisitive nature, and passion for rehab, inspires Jamela to adapt her treatments to accommodate her clients needs and goals in a successful and positive manner.

James Johnson

RMT Registered Massage Therapist

James is a Registered Massage Therapist and Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology Certified Personal Trainer. James is passionate about providing patient focused treatments to help patients achieve their goals and become the strongest version of themselves.

Over the years James has competed in many Judo competitions, in 2011 James became the International Blind Sports Association Judo Champion. Which led him to discover his passion for physical activity and manual therapy. James is a graduate from Georgian College Fitness and Health Promotion and Massage Therapy both with honours. His treatment approach is patient focused with an emphasis on corrective exercise and education. His goal is to help you achieve your goals,

Being visually impaired James has learned to overcome any obstacle in his way. He believes through hard work and determination anything is possible.

In his spare time, James loves to do jiujitsu, weightlifting and enjoy the outdoors with his service dog Nappa.

Sebastian Venditti

RMT Registered Massage Therapist

Sebastian (He/They) graduated from Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario and became a Registered Massage Therapist in 2021. He has entered the career with a passion for the individual, inclusivity and accessibility in healthcare. He respects the vulnerability and value of every body and experience, and aims to co-create a safe space with clients to maintain and improve their wellbeing and quality of life through massage therapy.

Sebastian is experienced in Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, fascial and joint manipulations, hydrotherapy applications, lymphatic drainage, prenatal massage, and looks forward to continued education opportunities to better help you on your bodywork journey.

Jeanette Muhr

Patient Experience Manager

Jeanette brings 20 years of experience as a Medical Office Administrator to STRIVE and has honed her skills working in various medical settings. Her natural ability to connect with people and her desire to be a positive impact in her community drew her to this career.

Jeanette’s top priority is to ensure patients have a positive experience at STRIVE, whether it be in person or on the phone. She enjoys being outdoors and loves finding new walking routes and trails with her husband, 2 daughters and family dog. She insists on keeping her family moving and active and challenges them to get outside for at least 30 minutes or to join her (and her pup) for their daily 5 km walk.

Jeanette is a self-proclaimed book worm and enjoys photography and art. She is also a dedicated Girl Guide leader and lends her skills and talents to many charitable organizations.

She is looking forward to getting to know the amazing patients at STRIVE as they journey on their road to recovery.

Kerry Goutos

Patient Experience Coordinator

Kerry comes to STRIVE with over 20 years experience in the medical field. Kerry works in a physicians office during the day as well as working at STRIVE in the evening. Kerry enjoys expanding her knowledge in new areas of the medical field, and STRIVE has proven to be a great fit.

Kerry enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

Kerry is looking forward to meeting all the Strive patients and helping patients and staff anywhere she can.

Heather Walker

Patient Experience Coordinator

Heather has over 20 years of experience in Office Administration and Customer Service. She has worked in the manufacturing industry and, more recently, in the Retirement Residences and Long Term Care Sector.

Heather’s philosophy is to nurture and support happiness in everyday life. She is a team player and anxious to add to the positive experience clients currently have with STRIVE.

In her spare time, Heather enjoys getting her exercise by taking long walks and loves to discover nature in the green spaces in and around Barrie. She has been a lifelong volunteer with numerous organizations and charities. She loves to travel and spend time with her family both near and far.

She looks forward to meeting and greeting all of the STRIVE clients and helping to make the STRIVE experience one worth repeating.

Julie Arthey

Patient Experience Coordinator

Julie comes to STRIVE with over 25 years of customer service experience and 15 years of management, including 6 years of office management and administration.

Julie’s love of business guided her to working towards a BA in Business Management and Marketing from Athabasca University. However, after completing two years, the powers that be changed her direction and she developed a passion for studying interpersonal communication. Julie’s love of people matured into a desire to help people through their struggles, and as a result she ended up enrolling with The Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine. Julie is in her final year and hopes to bridge her Health Sciences/Homeopathy diploma with a diploma in Holistic Nutrition from Edisons.

Julie’s rare moments of free time are spent with her husband and four adult children. She also loves swimming, Qi Gong, her incredible friends, animals, walking everywhere and the author/researcher Brene Brown.

Julie is so appreciative of the relationships she is building with both the staff and patients of STRIVE. Her priority is to offer exceptional service to Strive patients and nurture an atmosphere of belonging and acceptance.
